This really is quite cute, kittens usually are. It's big eyes, big ears, and tiny little nose. What I like about this picture is the effects you have between the blurry backround and the sharp contrast with it's eyes.
But my favorite thing has got to be the whiskers, they illuminate so well in the light and really add a nice effect to the picture, help frame the face in a sort of off-beat kind of way, and just bring that extra bit of natural beauty to the picture. Good Job.
Hello! Here's a mini-critique for this photo on behalf of the Critique Requested folder at #InYourMindsEye. I hope you find it useful.
First of all, this is such a lovely, sweet picture! Your kitten's big wide eyes are so beautiful, and I get such a feeling of peace and, more importantly, innocence, that I think is really wonderful for the subject you've captured. Absolutely lovely in that regard.
What I also really like is the small use of complementary colours, between the orange and the blue, but mostly the colours and lighting in general. The blue is a really lovely grounding colour, and the orange is wonderful. Even more, the bright, golden orange lighting around Baxter's ears and head fills this photo with warmth, and adds to the feeling of innocence and peace that I mentioned earlier.
If I could offer advice on anything, I think it would be focus and depth of field. I think a slightly wider depth of field to include some of Baxter's forelimbs and chest would be really beneficial, if only to show more of this innocent looking kitten. I don't think that would distract from her face at all, but I do think it would make the photo easier to look at. In that regards, a soft focus could still be maintained, and this would keep the emotions I continue mentioning.
Overall, I really think this is a lovely photo, well deserving of its praise and faves. I think a very small change to the DoF could make it even more stunning. Great work.
